HALF-TIMBERED
What style is this? In general, the word “Fahwerk” from German is translated as “panel or sectional structure,” “frame structure.” And it is in the title that the whole essence of the style is reflected.
In fact, fahwerk is a type of architectural structure, the basis for which is a spatial section of beams inclined at different angles and connected to each other.
The gaps between these beams can be filled with wood, stone, or brick. Initially, such a technology was used to clad the facades, but today the fachwerk is also actively used for internal decoration of premises.
The history of the direction is rooted in medieval Germany, it was there that the first houses of this type appeared in the 15th century. Then this style began to spread throughout Europe and in a short period of time managed to love many. Although there is evidence according to which structures made using such technology were found in the X-XI centuries. Today, many choose Fahwerk, since this technology has achieved its excellence thanks to the skill of builders and architects.
There are two options for designing the facade in the fahverk style:
Decorative imitation. In this case, wooden beams are combined with pre-plastered walls of the house. The method is simple, but the results are amazing.
Glass fachwerk. The gaps between the load-bearing beams are filled with double-glazed windows with especially strong heat-saving glasses. The design seems to soar in the air, so it seems fragile, but in fact it is not. The view of the facade is magnificent!
